KNOWN PROBLEMS:
If you are using the original PIPE: handler, you should set IOBUF in PBMMEM
to 4K or less. There is a bug in PIPE: that causes it to drop bytes if the
write request is larger than its internal buffer. A replacement queue-handler
(the handler used by PIPE:) was written by Heinz Wrobel (heinz@hwg.muc.de),
it is included in the special directory.
There is a bug in the V39 mathieeesingbas.library (or 68040.library, as it
affects only '040s) that causes the Netpbm programs to crash. A patch is
included in the special directory, it installs a workaround in the
mathieeesingbas.library. I think the bug is fixed in V40, but I can't check
this... So, if some Netpbm programs crash repeatedly (usually immediately
after starting them, with a 8000000? guru), try to run this patch.
There exists a "pipe" program written by Andy Finkel, this enables Unix-style
piping in the original AmigaShell. This program is known to be rather buggy,
and several replacements are available. The best (in my opinion) was written
by Michael van Elst, it is included in the special directory.
